Vision

The Church of God exists to:

* Worship the Lord

* Reach the Lost

* Disciple Believers

* Equip for Ministry

* Celebrate Unity

* Live Out the Love of Christ

Living out the love of Christ is at the Center of our Urban Vision and Mission. It includes the following:

* Demonstrate the tangible love of Christ in our communities

* Nurture, heal and strengthen families

* Provide for and enable those who need shelter, food and medicine

* Care for the “least of these” (children, the poor, the imprisoned, the physically and mentally ill, the oppressed, etc.)

* Proclaim and practice prayer for divine healing

* Seek justice in local, national and international communities.

* Seek to discover and minister to current needs in our churches and communities.

* “We believe that Christ’s love compels us to be active in our community and to spread that love to those we meet.”

Mission

We believe too many of our churches fall painfully short of their Biblically required mission. They are often too silent on the Devil’s afflictions upon our people.

Matthew 5:14-15 states, “You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead he puts it on the lamp stand, where it gives light for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in Heaven.” (GNB).

What emanates from many of our churches is dark silence, not the bright light of leadership and bold confrontation of the Devil. These churches do indeed light their lamps (if they have one) and put it under a bowl. The bowl is the space within the walls of their churches. This type of light is called Bushel light; light so well hidden the “whole world” will never find it. This is no way to “rescue the perishing and care for the dying.”

Failure of our clerical leadership to extend their light beyond the church edifice bowl leads us to God’s condemnation of Israel’s leaders as described in Isaiah 56:9-10: “The Lord has told the foreign nations to come like wild animals and devour his people. All the leaders, who are supposed to warn my people, are blind! They know nothing. They are like watchdogs that don’t bark – they only lie around and dream. How they love to sleep!”

It is our mission to break dark silence, warn and help protect our people within and without the church with the light and sound of knowledge that exposes and confronts the Devil.
